Some Pins are made by Die Striking

A design is struck in to a soft piece of steel that is then hardened. Then this "die" is used to strike the softer metal, to transfer your design to the material, which is then hand finished. This creates highly detailed lapel pins.

There are several types of enamels available:

Cloisonne US Flag lapel pin

Hard Enamel often referred to as "Cloisonne", It is a die-struck process with the use of special colors containing a glass-like mixture. Different Colors are fired one at a time at 1,700 F for three to four minutes. The finished item is hard baked using an open flame and buffed to give it the glossy and smooth hardened finish.

Imitation Hard Enamel (Soft Cloisonne)
Similar to "Cloisonne", however is a type of epoxy that allows PMS color matching. This epoxy fills the recessed ares completely same as real enamel does. It is air dried then buffed to a high gloss finish, in fact it has a higher gloss than true fired cloisonne. Look at our new Tea Party Pins

Soft Enamel are diestruck in copper, brass, bronze, and iron. Is also similar to "Hard-Enamel", other than the colors used are standard epoxy and are allowed to dry and harden without fire or heat.

Photo Etched Lapel Pins in your custom designs

Also offered are Photo Etched, Offset or Screen Printed... Photo Etched An image of your design is transferred from a photographic negative onto the surface of the metal. The design is then etched into the brass using an acid-reaction process to create indentations in the metal. The indentations are then filled with the enamel colors.

Colors are inserted by hand, using syringes. The metal sheet is then fired at 450°F for 12 to 15 minutes. Pins are then cut out of the sheet and Non-colored (raised) sections of the pin are then plated to a shiny gold finish. Compared to pins of cloisonne and die struck soft enamel, the advantage to photo etched lapel pins are that process is less expensive and lighter in weight.

Optional epoxy protective coating can be applied to protect the color enamels from fading or cracking over time.

Printed lapel pins create unlimited designs

Offset Printed For complex color and color gradation, the design is usually created using offset printing process. This process allows high quality reproduction of logos. The design is protected with a clear epoxy dome.
Screen Printing
This process is ideal for multi-colored designs. Color-matching is available while providing the fine detail and close color on color registration. The design is protected with a clear epoxy dome.

Some pins are made by diecasting

Navy SEALs pin

To diecast in pewter or zinc... A design master model is created by our artists. It is then set into a master mold which can then be used to create the production of the pin. An alternative to die-struck the diecast processes begins with a cavity formed from steel ( a two-sided die ) where a melted metal is injected to create the item. Once hardened, the die is opened, allowing for trimming, cleaning, polishing and plating.
